Opportunities for all Damaians: 3-tiered Leadership Approach

We cultivate a nurturing environment where 100% of our students are take up leadership roles in their daily classroom activities, guided by supportive teachers. We believe in a holistic approach that not only fosters confident and engaged leaders but also prepares them with essential 21st-century competencies. Through inclusive platforms designed to showcase their leadership abilities, students demonstrating strong potential are carefully identified and nurtured across various tiers, ensuring their continuous growth and readiness for future leadership roles.

Mass Leadership Training

Our Primary 3 to Primary 6 Class Leaders and Specialised Leaders embark on a transformative journey of growth during the Mass Leadership Training.

Led by various departments, this comprehensive training equips them not only with essential leadership skills and knowledge but also fosters confidence, engagement, and critical thinking. These future-ready leaders emerge prepared to model 21st-century competencies, inspiring their peers and contributing positively to our school community's development.

Prefectorial Board

Our prefects exemplify leadership and community service, overseeing safety during recess and contributing to our school's culture. hey are mentored from the outset, learning crucial leadership skills from senior prefects during camps and through ongoing guidance from teachers.

At Damai Primary School, we nurture leaders who are not only effective in their roles today but also equipped for future challenges through holistic development and readiness.

Peer Support Leaders

During their training, our peer support leaders engage in role-plays and case study scenarios rooted in real incidents to enhance their learning. These immersive exercises allow them to apply their knowledge and skills in practical contexts, preparing them to handle diverse situations effectively.

By brainstorming and presenting solutions to these scenarios, they develop critical thinking, empathy, and problem-solving abilities. This hands-on approach, supplemented with guidance from established principles, ensures that our peer support leaders not only understand but also internalize the importance of creating a supportive and empathetic school environment. Through these experiences, they emerge as capable leaders ready to make a positive impact on their peers' lives and contribute to a compassionate and inclusive school community.

Design Thinking

Design thinking at Damai is a dynamic, student-centered initiative where our prefects demonstrate effective leadership by identifying opportunities to enhance our school community. They actively engage in proposing innovative ideas to teachers, aimed at improving various aspects of school life.

Currently, our prefects are exploring several initiatives, such as creating alternative game areas with game board rentals and hopscotch spaces, establishing a homework club for P6 students to study collaboratively, and implementing practical solutions like big menus above wash basins to reduce queue times.

These efforts not only foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among students but also align with our commitment to developing future-ready leaders equipped with emerging 21st-century competencies.

Damai Pals

Our Damai Pals from Primary 1 and 2 engage in a nurturing journey of peer bonding and peer helping within their classrooms. This specialized role equips them with foundational leadership skills while fostering confidence, empathy, and active engagement among their peers.

Through these activities, they develop essential 21st-century competencies, preparing them to support and encourage their classmates effectively. This initiative ensures they emerge as caring and capable young leaders, dedicated to creating a harmonious and inclusive classroom environment.

External Leadership Training

Some of our leaders are selected to participate in external leadership programs organized by Tanjong Katong Secondary School, where their leadership skills undergo further refinement. Through rigorous training and mentorship, these emerging leaders enhance their abilities in mentoring, planning, and executing initiatives that foster unity and integrity within our school community. This external leadership opportunity ensures they develop into confident, capable individuals who contribute positively to our school's culture and beyond.

Camp ALPHA

Our approach nurtures confident leaders through hands-on experiences like our Mega Activity: Call of Duty, fostering teamwork and quick thinking.

These experiences develop initiative and creativity, essential for navigating the complexities of the 21st century. By fostering engagement and teamwork, we empower students to innovate and excel in an ever-evolving world, emerging as visionary leaders shaping the future.
